Justin Frawley, ’10, got a glimpse of what his future held when he participated in JSC’s Introduction to Outdoor Education course. The group visited different organizations around Vermont to give students a sense of the variety of shapes an outdoor education career can take. From there, he got hands-on experience doing an internship at Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, VT, where he planned and taught school programs and summer camps for children in preschool through high school.
Teaching and planning programs and curriculum really resonated with Justin, and led to a career. “When I completed the internship, I continued teaching at the farm seasonally, and I now work as a staff member designing and implementing school programs, summer camps and our Aspiring Naturalist Teens program. I teach about how both agriculture and natural areas need each other. It is so important for everyone to make the connection.”
