After graduating from JSC with a major in Outdoor Education, Chris Berdoulay, ’99, moved to Colorado where he guided mountaineering courses for Outward Bound in the summer and worked for the ski patrol for Beaver Creek Ski Resort during the winter. Chris went on to guide technical rock and ice climbing for Apex Mountain School, as well as teach Avalanche 1 classes. He currently serves as a Paramedic for Eagle County Paramedic Services, as well as continuing part-time ski patrol and guiding duties.
In all of these positions, Chris has drawn on his JSC Outdoor Education experience and skills. “The Johnson State Outdoor Education program provided the skills I needed to not only navigate the many aspects of moving safely and comfortably in the outdoors, but also how to successfully design and implement lesson plans to pass these skills to the next generation of backcountry users.”
