The center of campus student life is our recently renovated Stearns Student Center. Whether you’re looking to play a game of pool, hold a meeting, or just grab a coffee and hang out in front of the wide-screen TV, Stearns is the place to be. In addition to the campus dining hall, coffee shop and mail room, here’s what else you’ll find in Stearns:
Fireplace Lounge: Yeah, it can get cold in Vermont, but you can grab a warm drink from the cafe and hang out in front of a cozy fire with friends in our Fireplace Lounge. In addition to comfortable seating and a central location to people watch, you’ll often find student and other groups setting up tables in this area to share information and let you know about opportunities to get involved on and off campus.
TV Lounge: Sometimes you just want to chill out and watch a game or your favorite show; the TV Lounge in Stearns offers a wide-screen TV and lots of comfortable places to sit and relax after a hard day of studying.
Student Conference Room: If you’ve got work to do with others, you can arrange to use the Student Conference Room, which features a large table and many chairs, as well as big windows to let in the light.
Stearns Cinema: Twice weekly, the Student-Led Activities Programming group screens recent and classic films in this 50-seat movie theater, free of charge to all JSC students. We also use the cinema as the site of many special presentations, including our ongoing partnership with Vermont Public Television, who screens their Community Cinema offerings on JSC’s campus every few weeks during the academic year.
Performance Space: This intimate and modern space is like our very own coffeehouse. A small stage with lighting and lots of seating make it the go-to spo for open mics, readings, small band performances, campus celebrations, and other social gatherings.
Game Room: Pool, classic video games, pinball and plenty of room to just relax — the game room is a great place to blow off steam and see if you can beat your last high score.
