ALYSON MARIE FINN ‘13, age 23, passed way Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, due to injuries sustained in a car accident. Alyson was more than a daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all. She was a free spirit and a humanitarian with an amazing sense of adventure.
Raised in Montgomery, N.Y., and living at the time in Stowe, Vt., Alyson earned her bachelor’s degree from JSC in 2013. While here, she started the women’s rugby team, serving as captain and leading it to the division’s national championship in the team’s first year of play (2011). After graduation she played for the Burlington Women’s Rugby Club.
In addition to being an accomplished rugby player, Aly was a talented Irish step dancer. She loved everything outdoors, especially in the Johnson and Stowe areas. When she wasn’t playing rugby, you could find her climbing Mt. Mansfield, hiking a trail, skiing, or hanging at the beach. She loved animals, especially her boxer, Roxy. She was was always on the go, planning her next trip.
Reflecting Aly’s love of rugby, the Alyson Finn Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to rugby players who demonstrate a similar determination and spirit.
