Paul Silver has a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. At Johnson State College, his area of focus is American history, with particular interest in the Progressive movement and the New Deal. He also teaches courses in Chinese history and spent the 1986-87 academic year at Shanghai International Studies University in Shanghai, China.
Paul contributes reviews to Choice: Current Reviews for Academic Libraries, and is a talented musician, serving as principal clarinetist in the Vermont Philharmonic. He is also a member of woodwind quintet Cadenza. He’s played in the pit orchestra for numerous Lamoille County Players productions and is a longtime member of the Johnson State College Concert Band.
“I enjoy sharing my love of history with my students at JSC,” he says. “Teaching history is my calling.”
