Break Away Program
The Break Away alternative spring break program gives students the
chance to engage in local, national and international community
service projects. Johnson State College was a founding chapter of
the Break Away program (which currently has a network of over 130
chapter schools), and since 1991, the Serve Office has sponsored 101 Break Away trips with 1007 participants.
Break Away 2010-11 will include eight student leaders with four program
issue areas and trips for approximately 60 students, faculty and
staff.
Site issues include: environmental protection, disaster relief, and affordable housing.
JSC also offers Alternative Weekends focused on conservation and restoration in national parks.
