Penny Howrigan, Associate Dean of Enrollment Services
Penny heads up the Admissions Team. Her get-it-done attitude, her attention to detail, her sense of humor, her genuine care for students and families beyond just the admissions process, and her commitment to the College make her wonderful to work with and a terrific person to know. You’ll meet Penny when you visit campus, and she’ll be there to check in on your progress, help you resolve any problems and celebrate your successes throughout your college career.
Patrick Rogers, Director of Admissions
Patrick is here to answer questions from students in New Hampshire and Maine as well as the following Vermont counties: Essex, Orleans and Orange.
Patrick, an alumnus of Johnson’s business program, is a passionate advocate for the college and a highly effective recruiter whose ability to connect with prospective students from all walks of life has opened up the possibility of JSC for countless students. He also reviews applications for the Massachusetts counties of Worcester, Middlesex, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bristol, Plymouth, Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket.
Joye Lyon, Associate Director of Admissions & Early College/Jump Start Coordinator
Joye is here to answer questions from students from New York and the Vermont counties of Lamoille, Chittenden, Franklin, Caledonia and Grand Isle as well as Jump Start and Early College applicants.
Joye began her career in the Admissions Office at the reception desk, so she knows the office and its processes inside and out. She puts her knowledge, experience and genuine friendliness to work on behalf of prospective students and families and the college every day. Despite her gentle demeanor, Joye knows how to get things done — just ask any of the student Admissions workers she coordinates!
Elga Gruner, Associate Director of Admissions & International Student Coordinator
Elga is here to answer questions from international students, Distance-Learning students and graduate students
Elga’s your woman when it comes to information about the international student’s experience at Johnson State College. Born and raised in Indonesia, Elga is a JSC alum, having received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from JSC. In addition to being our lead on international admissions, Elga is the point person for transfer students and students who are interested in JSC Online and our community-based JSC in Your Community/EDP program.
Katrina Guaraldi, Admissions Counselor
Katrina is here to answer questions from students in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and the Vermont counties of Windham, Bennington and Windsor.
Katrina graduated from JSC in December of 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a certificate in Small Business Management. As a first-year student, she joined the Women’s Rugby Team and helped the team win Nationals. At JSC, Katrina studied abroad in Manchester, England for a semester. Her hobbies and interests include: bicycling, hiking, camping, arts and crafts, rugby, reading and travel.
Tommy O’Connor, Assistant Director of Admissions
Tommy is here to answer questions from students in Connecticut, New Jersey and all states outside of New England.
Enthusiastic. Professional. A nice guy. That’s what you hear when you ask people about their impressions of Tommy. A JSC alum, Tommy is a great person to talk to about the advantages of going to college and living in rural Vermont. He knows the college and its programs inside and out, but is especially excited to talk to you about how the incredible natural splendor that surrounds us here at JSC provides great opportunities for academics, professional development, and, not least of all, fun.
Bethany Harrington, Admissions Specialist
As the longest-serving member of the Admissions team, Bethany always greets each day and each visitor with a smile. Her upbeat attitude and vast knowledge of Johnson State College’s programs, people, policies and procedures, as well as her willingness to pitch in and help until the job is done, make her an excellent resource for students and families and a wonderful person to know. Bethany’s office is “behind the scenes” in the Admissions suite, but chances are you’ll talk to her or exchange emails at some point during the application process.
Erin Conner, Campus Visit and Outreach Coordinator
Erin comes to Johnson after working in the admissions field at a small private institution in NY, bringing knowledge and experience to coordinating our nearly thirty admissions events throughout the year.
She earned her Bachelor’s of Sciences in Sports Management at the State University of New York College at Cortland. She enjoys hiking, running, signing up for road races and travel. She can’t wait to show prospective students everything we have to offer!
