Now Vermont high school juniors and seniors can earn tuition-free college credits completely online!
Through Jump Start Online from Johnson State College, Vermont high school students who have completed their sophomore year can use their state dual-enrollment vouchers to take up to two of these three-credit, freshman- and sophomore- level courses:
- College Writing (ENG-1071)
- Introduction to Sociology (SOC-1010)
- Introduction to Psychology (PSY-1010)
- Probability & Statistics (MAT-2030)
These courses are standard introductory courses that are easily transferable. They are taught by experienced faculty and include an orientation session to acquaint students with how online learning works. (Many other courses are available to students who take classes on campus.)
The Jump Start program at JSC is made possible by Vermont’s Flexible Pathways Initiative, which covers the cost of tuition for up to eight credits from a state college for high school students who have completed their sophomore year. Tuition is free, but students are expected to cover any other costs, such as books and course fees.
Eligible high school seniors also have the option of choosing the Early College program, which provides the opportunity to earn up to 30 college credits tuition-free while simultaneously completing their high school graduation requirements.
