JSC Online wants your distance-learning experience to be a positive and successful one. As a distance-learning student, you have access to all the support services our on-campus participants enjoy, as well as some resources developed specifically for you. Whether this is your first distance-learning course or you’ve participated in online courses before, please take a few minutes to review the resources available to you.
JSC Online courses are delivered via the Moodle learning-management system, or e-Learning platform. You will receive a JSC email account and student ID number that you will use to set up a password-protected account on the MyJSC Portal (our internal website) where you can access Moodle. Your JSC email account will be used for all official communications from JSC. Be sure to check your JSC email account for important information regarding course registration, financial aid and other matters.
Your instructors will communicate with you via your JSC email address and Moodle.
The MyJSC Portal serves as a centralized location to register for classes, check grades, find out about current campus events, chat online with classmates, and receive messages targeted directly to you.
JSC does not mail paper bills; instead, we send bills via email using your JSC email address. You are responsible for checking your JSC email account for date-sensitive messages regarding tuition, fees and payment deadlines.
The JSC Help Desk provides technical assistance related to technology issues. Help Desk staff are available Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may contact the Help Desk at helpdesk.vsc.edu or 800-635-2356, ext. 1415 (802-635-1415 locally).
Distance-learning students have access to library resources via computer and email. Visit the JSC Willey Library website for more information about how we serve our off-campus students.
Textbooks for online courses can be purchased (or in most cases, rented) from the JSC Summit Bookstore.
