  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field required, plus relevant professional experience OR a combination of comparable education and experience.

  • Knowledge of college requirements and advisement processes.

  • Excellent organizational and electronic record-keeping skills; ability to navigate complex databases, construct and interpret data queries and produce accurate reports.

  • Strong communication skills; independent problem-solving skills; ability to deescalate and resolve anxious-student dilemmas.

  • Ability to travel for school visits or meetings, arrange digital meetings and conference calls.

  • An educational philosophy that overlaps JSC's approach to educator preparation.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Collaborate with Teacher Education Program Directors to advise teacher education students through the requirements of their program; consult with Program Directors regarding student requests for waivers, substitutions, etc.

  • Consult regularly with EDP Program Directors to address idiosyncratic student concerns.

  • Inform campus and EDP students of academic requirements, opportunities, choices and goals.

  • Consult with students regarding licensure requirements and procedures and resolve requests for information, paperwork and guidance.

  • Conduct initial Transcript Reviews for students transferring credits.

  • Conduct audits of students files and program evaluations and anticipate problems; devise and direct solutions; update program evaluations as needed.

  • Occasionally represent the Teacher Education Programs for campuswide events, AOE meetings, off-site meetings for the External Degree Program, etc.

  • Schedule meetings and assist with Education Department events, materials and initiatives; maintain Teacher Education webpage, bulletin board and advisement materials.

  • Collaborate with the Department faculty and Administrative Assistant to manage records and files.

  • Manage problems, waiver requests, student complaints, etc., while maintaining the Education Department's learning objectives, policies and standard of quality for academic rigor, professional performance and ethical disposition.
