Visiting Assistant Professor in Writing and Literature
Full-time position for 2010-2011, to begin August 2010.

Possibility of continued appointment for second year.

 

Salary         

Salary determined by degrees and experience according to a negotiated contract.

 

Qualifications     

MFA in creative writing or a Ph.D. in literature, preferably with a creative dissertation.

      • Excellent teaching skills and commitment to the undergraduate education of creative writing majors and to non-majors enrolled in General Education courses offered through the department. 
      • Experience in writing fiction with significant publications and experience in literary magazine publications – as a graduate-level intern, faculty adviser, or editor. 
      • Interest and experience in expository writing instruction and assessment are desirable.

Examples of Work Performed

Teach four courses per semester, including introductory courses in composition and creative writing as well as upper-level fiction workshops, fiction-writing form and theory, and courses in literature, depending on departmental needs.

      • Additional expectations include academic advising, continued scholarship and professional development, and participation through teaching and service in a college-wide commitment to early and ongoing student success.

Assistant Professor Fine and Performing Arts Music

Full-time, Tenure Track Position

Salary

Qualifications                                     

The successful candidate for this position will possess an M.F.A. in music, a master of music degree, or a doctoral degree and a strong commitment to and record of demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching. Experience teaching in public schools is also desirable.  A commitment to diversity and inclusive practices is also expected. 

   

Examples of Work Performed                                          Maintain and teach courses related to our Licensure in Music Education program K-12 and/or the Musical Theater program. Establish collaborative relationships with local schools. Teach other campus-based and field-based courses. Assume the responsibilities of a Fine and Performing Arts Department faculty member including student advising, professional development, seminar facilitation, and college/community service. Participate through teaching and service in a college-wide commitment to early and ongoing student success.

Assistant Professor Fine and Performing Arts Assistant —Digital Arts

Full-time, Tenure Track Position

Qualifications                     

M.F.A. in digital media and a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. In-depth expertise in one or more of the following fields: graphic/web design, multi-media and/or video, sound editing and animation. Candidate must possess a good working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash and Final Cut Pro; should be familiar with emerging technologies; and be able to incorporate some history and criticism of the electronic arts into his/her teaching.
 
Examples of Work Performed                  

Teaching responsibilities will include upper and lower-level digital media courses (linear and non-linear) for B.A. and B.F.A. degrees in Studio Art. Courses to include Introductory and Advanced Digital Media, Web Design, Graphic/Media Design, Video production and/or Animation. The candidate will develop curriculum and course content in digital arts; develop models for using multi-media in other disciplines; and participate through teaching and service in a college wide commitment to early and on-going student success.
