  • Doctorate in education, experience teaching in public schools at the elementary level, expertise teaching at the college level or with adult learners, and demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Skills in collaboration, problem solving, and resource management.
  • A commitment to constructivist philosophy, diversity, and inclusive practices is also expected. A broad range of educational experience and interests, including a specialization in early literacy education and/or inclusive elementary education with the ability to help guide a teacher education program that integrates elementary and special education curricula.
  • Familiarity with instruction for English-language learners is preferred.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Teach elementary education courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels for aspiring teachers and coordinating the Inclusive Elementary Education Program in collaboration with the Special Education Program Director.
  • Stay abreast of state teacher licensure regulations; supervise student teachers; review licensure portfolios; advise teacher education students; teach appropriate graduate and/or undergraduate courses; advance a college wide commitment to early and on-going student success.
  • Assume the duties of a full-time faculty member for both the Education Department and the College.
