  • Doctorate in education or closely related field
  • Expertise in special education with a background in inclusive education.
  • Experience teaching and serving students with disabilities.
  • Experience teaching at the college level, including adult learners; proficiency with standards-based curriculum development, instruction, and assessment in teacher education; Experience supervising student fieldwork experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and assessment projects for program improvement.
  • Knowledge of laws, policies, and standards of practice related to students with special needs, particularly Response to Instruction and Positive Behavior Supports.
  • Effective communication, problem solving, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic technology.
  • Commitment to constructivist pedagogy.
  • Commitment to diverse, inclusive, and equitable education.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in special education and the teacher education program core.
  • Oversight of the Special Education Program and the Applied Behavior Analysis Program.
  • Cooperative implementation of the Inclusive Education Programs.
  • Represent the college in regional and state-wide special education initiatives.
  • Supervise student teachers.
  • Assume all responsibilities of an Education Department faculty member including advisement, committee assignments, professional development, reviewing licensure portfolios, seminar facilitation, and college/community service.
  • Participate through teaching and service in a college wide commitment to early and on-going student success.
