"I created a nonprofit organization called the Werkok Youth Development Association to help rebuild my home community in Sudan. "

While at JSC, I have created a nonprofit organization called the Werkok Youth Development Association to help rebuild my home community in Sudan. My first major project is raising money to help rebuild wells destroyed in the country’s civil war and to improve the quality of the town’s water supplies. The WYDA also promotes clean water, job training, leadership skills and education in Werkok (population 6,000).

With advising from one of my JSC business professors, Todd Comen, I have established a five-member board of directors for my nonprofit (all students from JSC), I am working with a designer to build a Web site, and I am creating brochures to publicize the issues in Werkok and Sudan and help raise money and awareness to improve the situation there.
