"I'm a big believer in personal experience. Reading about politics is one thing, but seeing it in action gives you a whole new perspective."
I've taken several courses with Professor Bill Doyle, a Vermont state senator since 1969. He's sparked my interest in the world of politics. At the end of each semester, Bill takes us to the State House to meet the governor and selected legislators. I've also gone on my own to attend committee and general assembly meetings, and to speak with legislators I know thanks to my relationship with Bill.
I'm a big believer in personal experience. Reading about politics is one thing, but seeing it in action gives you a whole new perspective. It's really opened my eyes. A couple years ago, I couldn't have imagined getting into public service. Now it's what I want to do with my life.
