During the 2007-2008 academic year, I worked with the Admissions Office at JSC to create an internship that allowed me to gain experience in event planning. I’ve helped organize and support a range of admissions events this year, both on and off campus — including three out of state events. I do everything from assisting the admissions counselors in the planning stages, to communicating with faculty and staff on campus about the event, to working with prospective students on the day of the event. It’s really been amazing for me. Not only has it helped me be sure that event planning is really what I want to do for a living, but it’s really shown me what’s involved in the day-to-day work of the profession.
