Zach Gervais

Zach Gervais had heard good things about Johnson State College from friends and family who had gone here. So, when he was deciding where to go to college, he thought JSC seemed like the right choice.
It was, he says.
Since arriving, Zach has made a place for himself in the JSC community, pursuing both his academic and extra-curricular interests and building relationships that will last long past graduation.
He was always interested in business and money matters, he says, so when it came time to choose a major, Zach had no trouble deciding on business management with a concentration in marketing. The classes in this area are where he feels most comfortable and most engaged, he says. He describes enjoying good relationships with his professors and having fun working with his fellow business students on the many small-group projects these classes often require. And he also feels like he is being well prepared to take advantage of the many career opportunities that will be available to him as a business major.
When he's not studying, he works at the SHAPE Fitness Center — his favorite place on campus. When this varsity basketball point-guard isn't on the clock, he can shoot hoops on his own or with friends, gearing up for the next basketball game or season.
Zach is hoping to get into corporate management when he finishes school. While he doesn't have any specific plans yet, he dreams of being able to combine his interest in business and his love of sports into a career someday. In the meantime, he's laying the groundwork to make that happen — and having a good time while doing it.
