The rural location and mountain views of Johnson are a big change from the city life of Philadelphia, where Miles Smith calls home, but the sociology/anthropology major and basketball player has really embraced the difference.
"The atmosphere is so peaceful," he says, "and there's a personal connection among the people here, faculty and students. It feels like everyone is family." Despite its small size and rural location, says Miles, JSC offers many opportunities to connect with others through clubs, sports, music and more. "There are a lot of different people here and there is a lot to learn. It's been a great learning experience for me."
