Kegan Petit, a hospitality and tourism management major, had planned on enlisting in the Navy after high school, when a guidance counselor urged him to check out a few colleges — including Johnson State.
"I attended an open house," he says, "and the campus was just so lively. There were lots of people around, students playing Frisbee, music coming from the dorms. . . I felt like this was the place for me."
And Kegan has really maximized his time here. After exploring a number of different majors, Kegan has settled on hospitality and tourism management (HTM), which he feels is a perfect fit for his outgoing personality. He has also taken advantage of JSC's beautiful natural setting, spending lots of time outdoors, snowboarding, playing on the JSC soccer, lacrosse and rugby teams.
Says Kegan about JSC: "It's all about exploration — finding yourself, finding out about others... it's a small school, but it can take you anywhere."
