Living and Learning Communities
Making Social and Academic Connections
Living and learning communities give students who share the same academic interests the opportunity to live in the same residence hall and take some of the same classes.
Students who reside in a living-learning community enjoy the same amenities as other residents, yet benefit from a unique living experience that includes social events and programming connected to their areas of study.
Current living-learning communities at JSC include those in place for START science scholars and for business and HTM (hospitality and tourism management) majors.
Studies have shown that students in living-learning communities earn higher grades and are more likely to stay in college and graduate on time.
