Deep Survival: Wilderness Lessons for a Complex World

Deep SurvivalDeep Survival is a unique new class focused on a one-week backpacking adventure during the summer (prior to the fall semester) with follow up meetings during the semester.

The course is a wilderness orientation designed for first year
students. Course objectives are based on learning about one's self, future classmates, Vermont's treasured resources, and how to make the best of your experience at Johnson State College.

There is a required book and assignments that delve
into the topic of survival, and how a student might integrate this knowledge to be successful in college, and in life!

Students who successfully complete this class will earn 3 credits for the Freshman Year Seminar requirement in the General Education Core Curriculum.
