Admissions To-Do List
September
- Identify the colleges that interest you.
- Call or write the colleges for information on admissions requirements and financial procedures.
- Get organized - compile a list of admissions and financial aid deadlines.
- Register for the SAT or ACT Test.
- Schedule college visits.
October
- Take the SAT Test
- Attend a JSC Open House on Saturday, October 27.
- Meet with a JSC admissions counselor at your high school.
- Check with your guidance counselor for details.
- Ask teachers and guidance counselors for letters of recommendation.
- Vermont students — attend the VSAC Financial Night at your high school. (Programs are held at each high school in the state from October-January.)
November
- Take the SAT Test if you're not happy with your previous scores.
- Send test scores to the colleges on your list.
- Attend a JSC Open House on Saturday, November 10.
- Pick up state grant applications are available in your high school guidance office.
- Research scholarship opportunities at your high school, in your community and at the colleges where you are applying.
December
- Apply for admission to JSC; make copies of everything before mailing. (JSC has a rolling admissions policy which means applications are reviewed throughout the year. We encourage high school seniors to apply by March 1 and the earlier, the better!)
- Attend Early Admission Days. Bring your application, transcript, test scores and letters of recommendation to JSC, have an interview and leave the campus with a decision!
January
- Parents and students - complete your income tax forms as soon as possible.
- To meet JSC's financial aid priority deadline of March 1, please complete and mail the FAFSA to the federal processor as soon after January 1 as possible and no later than February 15.
- Be sure to include JSC's Title IV Code, 003688, on the FAFSA.
- Use estimated income tax information if you have not filed your tax forms.
- Follow instructions for signature requirements, use appropriate social security numbers on all applications, and make copies of all documents.
- Take SAT if you haven't already.
February
- Complete JSC scholarship application.
- Join us for WinterFest Open House.
March
- Note that the admissions and financial aid priority application deadline is March 1.
- Note that the Scholarship Application deadline is March 1st
- Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) which will be sent to you from the federal processor if you applied for aid. If necessary, make corrections on the SAR and return it to the processor.
- To check on the status of your FAFSA, call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at (800) 433-3243 or (319) 337-5665 or go to their website at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
April
Financial aid and scholarships award letters will be mailed.
- Attend JSC 101 Open House on Friday, April 18, 2008 - A program for accepted students and families.
May
Decide on the college you will attend - mail your tuition deposit to JSC!
June
Attend a summer registration session at JSC.
