Summer Programs and Camps 2008
Every summer, the JSC campus is buzzing with activity! In addition to students attending summer classes, we also play host to hundreds of young members of the local and national community. Here's what's happening this summer:
Northeast Heritage Music Camp
June 15 - 21, 2008
Northeast Heritage Music Camp celebrates the acoustic music and folk
dance traditions of New England and eastern Canada. Come join us in
June for a week of music instruction by world-class players from these
great traditions, dance to their music at our nightly contras, hear
them in concert, and if you're so inclined, jam with them or
fellow tunes-aficionados into the wee hours.

Upward Bound - JSC Summer Program
June 22 - July 25, 2008

Burklyn Ballet Theatre
June 29 - August 11, 2008
The Burklyn Ballet Theatre is an intense summer program with an
emphasis on performance. Pre-professional dancers ages 12 to adult are
accepted by auditions held in 28 cities nationally, January through
March.
The Intermediate program accepts 36 10- to 12-year old students for
two 2-week sessions. Dancers take three classes and rehearse daily for
the weekly performances. They can attend for 2, 3, 4 or 6 weeks.
Twenty dancers are also chosen to travel to Scotland and perform at
the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August.
2-, 3-, 4-, or 6-week sessions
All performances are on Saturdays at 8 p.m. There is a small general
admission fee.

Green Mountain Youth Symphony
July 13 - 19, 2008
The Green Mountain Youth Symphony provides young musicians with a stimulating, high-quality musical experience as well as instruction in orchestral technique, ensemble and musicianship.
GMYS has a program for young musicians at every level of development and offers opportunities for beginning, intermediate and advanced players in three separate orchestras – Repertory, Chamber, and Senior.

Vermont Soccer School
July 27 -31, 2008
The Vermont Soccer School program reflects the philosophy of learning through playing, not watching. We emphasize small group instruction with constant feedback and an opportunity to practice the techniques in game situations. The challenges of the game brings out the best in each player and allows each player to develop his/her skills and understanding of the game while, most importantly, having fun.
For more information, e-mail Peter DesLauriers at 10ten@verizon.net or visit the Vermont Soccer School Web site.
Vermont Vocal Arts
July 21 -24, 2008
This concentrated program is designed to build your performance skills in a short time. Limited enrollment allows for individualized and small group instruction from Boston Conservatory graduates who are successful performers in their own right. You'll get a taste of what it's like to study with college-level instructors in a real college environment. Feel greater confidence as a performer. Leave singing better than ever.
Visit the Vermont Vocal Arts Web site for more information.
Ottawa Bicycle Club
August 1 - 4, 2008
The Ottawa Bicycle Club is the oldest and one of the largest bicycle clubs in Canada. The Vermont tour is normally based out of a state college in Vermont, such as Castleton, Johnston, Burlington or Lydonville. An Inn-to-Inn Vermont tour is also held in conjunction with the Vermont weekend.
