Second Nonprofit Training Set for March 12, 2010

People in Partnership TrainingAs part of a $5,000 grant awarded to People in Partnership and Johnson State College from The Green Mountain Fund to work with Common Good Vermont in connecting people, knowledge and nonprofits in service to the Lamoille Valley, Johnson State College will host its second training workshop ("Creating Effective Partnerships") on March 12, 2010. Common Good Vermont is a network of people and online resources that help nonprofits extend efficient and effective service to the people of the State.

On January 29, 2010 37 participants joined for the first training “Strengthening the Lamoille Valley Network.” Participants gathered to think strategically about partnership opportunities within and outside of the immediate network, to learn how to use CommonGoodVT.org to share knowledge and resources, weave networks, follow the news, access new skills and help to improve outcomes. Specifically, participants learned how focused on the “how” of tagging pictures, video, listings, blog posts, group bookmarks, twitter and Facebook updates to create a community brain trust larger than we ever imagined.

JSC Experiential Education Director Ellen Hill says, "As nonprofit leaders, we want to make the most of our resources and have the greatest impact in our community. While we navigate these tough economic times doing the best we can, we suspect that we can do better together. Creating Effective Partnerships is a three hour workshop to take a close look at why we should consider partnerships to support our work, how to build, operate and sustain partnerships that are effective and efficient. Co-sponsored by People in Partnership, Johnson State College and Common Good Vermont."
