PoJazz Announces Fall Performances
JOHNSON - The performers of "Pojazz," the eclectic mix of poetry and jazz by Johnson State College students, faculty and friends, have announced new fall dates.
Pojazz will return Tuesday, August 28, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Legion Field on the JSC campus.
Two other dates announced include appearances at Halverston's on Church Street, Burlington, Friday, September 14, from 8 to 11 p.m.; and at the Base Lodge on the JSC campus on Tuesday, September 25, from 8 to 11 p.m.
PoJazz, an experiment in words and music, showcases the best of Northern New England's jazz musicians and poets in a cabaret format. PoJazzers believe that jazz and the blues tell stories, and that poetry, at its lyrical best, is never far from music and dance. In each performance, poets read from their own written work while musicians interweave riffs that erupt from both the rhythms of a poetic line and the musical phrase.
In the last year, PoJazz has made numerous appearances in the North Country. PoJazz is sponsored by the Writing and Literature Department of Johnson State College. The project is inspired by the college's commitment to interdisciplinary studies in the Arts and Humanities. Poets and musicians are invited to join Pojazz in new shows.
