JOHNSON STATE COLLEGE 145th COMMENCEMENT
On Saturday, May 12, Johnson State College Awarded 351 B.A./B.S. degrees, 55 graduate degrees, and 10 A.A./A.S. degrees. Vermont Supreme Court Justice Beth Robinson delivered the keynote address during a ceremony graced by sunny skies and warm breezes. Congratulations to the JSC Class of 2012!
About the Ceremony
The college-wide ceremony includes the academic procession of the president, deans, honored guests, and graduating undergraduate and graduate students in academic regalia. The procession is led by the college registrar and the Pipes and Drums of Saint Andrew’s Society. Included in the main ceremony are:
- Opening Remarks by President Murphy
- Commencement Address by
- Addresses by student speakers
- Conferral of degrees
Each graduate's name will be read as the graduate walks across the stage led by his or her department’s faculty marshal. Graduate students will be hooded, on stage, by their marshal.
Helpful Hints for Commencement Day
- Arrive no later than 10:30 a.m. to find a parking space on campus.
- The Bentley Hall parking lot will be full by 10 a.m. So if you arrive after 10 a.m., you will not be able to park there, even if you are a graduate.
- The back entrance, off of School Street, will be closed for entry onto campus between 8 and 11 a.m. (The School Street route will be open after Commencement.)
- Handicap parking is especially limited. Guests requiring handicap parking should arrive by 10 a.m. at the latest.
- Please —no pets, except for service animals
- No alcohol of any kind
- No smoking under or near the tent site
