Luma Mufleh Gives Commencement Address
On Saturday, May 19, 2007 Luma Mufleh addressed the graduating class of 2007 at the Johnson State College Commencement ceremony. Mufleh, a Jordanian immigrant and 1997 graduate of Smith College, has recently gained national attention for her work coaching a soccer team of young refugees who have resettled in Clarkston, Georgia. The 31-year-old has also founded a house and office cleaning company to employ the children's mothers. In addition to paying a living wage, the company provides training and professional development courses for its workers.
