Jon Buroff Memorial TreesLocation: Two American Plum Trees above Minaert Fields, beside VAC parking lot. (Map - 30) Plaque Reads: In Memory of Jonathan Peter Buroff, Class of 2010, 1986-2009. Jon Steven Pringle Memorial Sugar Maple Tree and Marble BenchLocation: Sculpture Park along the main entrance road. (Map - 21 & 22) Plaque Reads: The Vermont Sugar Maple was planted in loving memory of Jon Steven Pringle. Steve, formerly of Essex, was a business major at JSC. On June 8, 1990, a fire destroyed a home in Johnson where Steve lived with his twin brother Scott. Steve’s efforts to alert Scott and four other students assisted their escape. During the summer months Steve and Scott worked in landscaping in the Stowe area. This bench is dedicated in memory of Steve Pringle for all his love and concern for all his friends. June 11, 1990. From all his landscaping buddies. Placed in June 1990. |

Margaret G. Ottum Memorial Oak TreeLocation: Overlooking the mountains and athletic fields, visible from the VAC Parking Lot. (Map-18) Plaque reads: This Oak is planted in Memory of Professor Emeritus Margaret G. Ottum 1935-2006. Margaret Ottum taught at JSC from 1982 to 2003, pioneered the environmental science/natural resources major, and inspired countless through her courage, tenacity, and achievements. “Be like a tree in pursuit of your cause. Stand firm, grip hard, and trust upward. Bend to the winds but do not break.” Placed in the Summer of 2006. |

Elizabeth Ann Wiren Apple TreesLocation: Above campus apartments near the College Gardens Plaque reads: In Memory of Elizabeth Ann Wiren (Nov. 8, 1967 – March 6, 2011) Perennial JSC Student, 2005 onward; President of Green Solutions (JSC Student Environmental Club) and inspired founder of this garden, Liz stayed rooted to our campus community even as she branched out to places beyond. These apple trees were donated and planted in her memory in the spring of 2011 by her colleagues and friends. Date: Spring 2011 |
