Mark and Star Heinrich Scholarship Endowment

This endowment was established in 2007 by Mark and Starleen (Sweeney) Heinrich, both classes of 1969, who live in Kingwood, Texas, where they own and operate real estate and mortgage companies.  Mark joined the Marine Corps after graduating from Johnson and flew the F-4 Phantom from 1970-1978.  Star did some substitute teaching during their travels in the service, while also raising their three sons.  During this time Mark also attended night school and received his Master of Arts Degree in Business from Webster College in St. Louis, Missouri in 1977.  In 1978, Mark went to work for Continental Air Lines in Houston, Texas flying the Boeing 727.  He left Continental in 1983 when the airline company went bankrupt and set up a residential real estate practice that was very successful.  Star and Mark became a husband and wife team and were fortunate to be ranked in the top 5% of all agents nationally for sales.  They currently co-own three Keller Williams Realty franchises and a mortgage brokerage company.  Their real estate brokerage was ranked in the top 100 in the United States by "Real Trends Magazine" in 2007. They have both taught religious education over the years and Mark has taught numerous real estate courses as well.  Mark and Star enjoyed their time at the college and they wish to “give back” by helping current students fund their education.

The Mark and Star Heinrich Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior female student who is an education major and has financial need. This scholarship was first given in 2008.
