Robert J. Harris Political Science Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship comes from an endowment established in 2006 by the State of Vermont in memory of Bob Harris, Class of 1976, who passed away in 1998.  Bob had a long career in Vermont politics, and served from 1976-1997 in the House of Representatives.  He also was selectman for the Town of Windsor and served on Vermont State Colleges Board of Trustees.  Bob was a great advocate of scholarships, as he himself was forced to drop out of college because of financial need.  Years later, he said, "I have always regretted not having been able to continue my studies because of financial constraints.  No young person interested in politics or public service should have to abandon higher education because he or she cannot afford to continue."

The Robert J. Harris Political Science Scholarship is awarded to a political science, government, or history major with strong career goals, a good academic record, and financial need.
