Luella and J.H. Griffin Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established in 1996 by a bequest from J.H. Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a prolific writer in the fields of athletics and administration, who coached and taught at JSC in the 1969-70 academic years. He and his wife always held a fondness for this college. In his career as a writer he wrote several successful books and a dozen or more periodicals. Even after his heart attack in 1964, he gave his whole heart in every aspect of life. He was a man who commanded respect from students and faculty when it came to athletics. The honor of the game was more important to him than the scoreboard at the end of the day. As someone who expected the best from each student he in turn gave his best in every phase of life.
Luella and J.H. Griffin Scholarship goes to the student who writes the best essay on the topic "Why I Came to Johnson State College."
