Dr. Richard M. Daum Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established in 2004 by Richard M. Daum, M.D., Class of 1973. Dr. Daum is an internationally renowned cardiologist who received his M.Sc. from Harvard University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Cornell University Medical College. He has maintained a private practice in internal medicine and cardiology for many years and has been on the cutting edge of cardiology, pioneering new methods for diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease. From 2003 to 2009, Dr. Daum had a private cardiology practice in Stowe, VT, where he resided with his wife and two daughters. He served as a clinical associate professor at the University Of Vermont College Of Medicine in Burlington, VT, and was an attending cardiologist at UVM Medical Center. Before that, he served as President of Concord Health Associates at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA, and held teaching appointments at Harvard Medical School and Tufts University School of Medicine and was Concord Hospital’s Chief of Cardiology, co-director of the ICU, and chaired the Credentials Committee. Dr. Daum and his family have recently relocated to South Carolina. In 2004, he was awarded the Johnson State College Distinguished Alumni Award.
Dr. Richard M. Daum Scholarship goes to an undergraduate student who is majoring in environmental studies, wellness and healing arts or health sciences, is in need of financial support, and shows promise of making a difference in the world.
