Endowed Scholarships
Many alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of Johnson State College have expressed their caring by establishing endowments, thus establishing a permanent fund which provides interest each year to support student scholarships, programs, and overall excellence in education. Donations are made through direct gifts, charitable gift annuities, or bequests. The college expresses its great gratitude for these gifts, which will go on into the future as permanent endowments, providing on-going funds to benefit students and programs. (Learn how to establish a named endowment or to leave a legacy gift to JSC)
As of June 30, 2009, Johnson State College’s endowment reached $2 million. This longtime goal was greatly boosted by a federal challenge matching grant of $365,000 awarded to the college in 2005. As of June 30, 2009, cash and stocks donated to the true endowment totaled $2,004,749. (It took from June 1994 to June 2006 to move from $99,000 to $1 million, and just 2.5 years, from July 2006 to December 2008, to reach $2 million!), thanks to these generous gifts. Brief summaries of each of the endowed funds follow — click on "read more" for a fuller description, lists of recipients, and photos.
