Give to Break Away
This year, four Break Away alternative break trips are planned. For these trips to happen, participants will have to raise a lot of money. Your donation will go directly to the trip of the student you are sponsoring and the community he or she is serving. Here are the trips for the spring 2010 breaks:
New Orleans, LA from February 20-27, 2010. During their time there, students will be working with United Saints 1st Recovery Project to help repair, renovate and rebuild hurricane-damaged homes. They will be doing some gutting, roofing, gutter repair, siding, dry wall installation, mudding, sanding, priming, flooring, painting, fencing, yard work and landscaping. Donate online
Washington, DC from February 20-27, 2010. During their time there, students will be working with Amizade Global Service Learning to address the issue of hunger and homelessness. They will be preparing and serving meals, distributing food, and providing children’s activities and maintenance work. Donate online
New York City, NY from April 3-10, 2010. During their time there, students will be working with Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club. They will be developing projects in the fields of studio art, dance, theatre, and music and share our passion for the arts by leading workshops for these students.Donate online
Portland, OR from April 3-10, 2010. During their time there, students will be working with Zenger Farm. They will be learning about a variety of sustainable practices and get a chance to apply this knowledge working in orchards, planting seeds, crop maintenance, bioswale work and more. Donate online
