Lacrosse Wraps Up Winning Season

Two Badgers were recognized by the North Atlantic Conference for the 2008 season. Junior defensemen RJ Fleming and sophomore attack men Billy Noyes received All-Conference First Team for their efforts this season.

The Badgers were home on Wednesday, April 30, for their final game of the season to host the Hornets of Lyndon State. It was also senior day for four Badgers. Evan Pestone, Matt Martin, Keegan Pettit, and Lance McGrath were all playing in their final home game.

The Badgers wasted no time and jumped out to an early 7-0 en route to a 20-4 outburst on LSC.

Billy Noyes led the way for JSC with five goals and two assists. Martin and junior Matt RiaAn image of the top of a lacrosse stick.ni each added four goals and three assists. Pettit scored two goals, had two assists, and stopped nine shots for JSC. Sophomore Steve Noyes netted two goals on the day while fellow sophomores Nate Willard, Mike Murphy, and Erik Tillberg each added a goal to round out the JSC offense.

In his last game in net, Pestone made five saves and also saw some second-half action in the field.

JSC headed to Lyndonville, Vt. on Monday, April. 28 to face off against non-conference rival Lyndon State.

In a high scoring affair, the Badgers came out with the 23-15 victory.

It was a record breaking day for a pair of Badgers. Billy Noyes and Pettit scored eight goals each, which tied the single game goals record. Noyes added three assists and broke the school’s record for points in a game with 11.

Murphy and Riani each tallied two goals while Riani added three assists. Steve Noyes, Martin, and freshmen Dave Derick each scored a goal for the Badgers.

Pestone recorded 17 saves between the pipes to collect the win.

The Badgers were back home on Wednesday, April 23, to host visiting Mitchell College. JSC bounced back nicely from their previous game with a crushing 16-1 victory over Mitchell.

Steve Noyes and Pettit recorded a hat trick each in goals for JSC. Martin, Tillberg, Riani, and Billy Noyes all netted two goals each to propel JSC to a comfortable victory.

Pestone made four saves on the day and also got to show off his skills out of net, handing out an assist.

On Saturday, April 19, JSC was home to face three-time defending North Atlantic Conference champions Mount Ida College. The Badgers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead but it was all Mustangs after that defeating JSC 18-3.

Murphy scored the game’s opening goal to give the Badgers their only lead of the game. The sophomore pair of Billy Noyes and Tillberg netted a goal each. Pettit added an assist on the day to round out the JSC offense.

Despite the loss, Pestone was outstanding in net. The senior made a number of remarkable saves on his way to 20 saves.
