JSC Badgers Break Losing Streak:

One Time Lucky

On Sunday, April 27, in Leicester, Mass. JSC Badgers snapped its 47-game losing streak in game one of the doubleheader against Becker College by the score of 2-1.
Sophomore Miranda Robtoy had an RBI double followed by an RBI single from junior Ashley Allegrini which drove in Robtoy. Sophomore Julie Gervais pitched a great game going all seven innings allowing one earned run and striking out four for the win.

After picking up its first win of the season, JSC fell to the Hawks 15-7 in game two.

Gervais paced the JSC offense with a two-run homer that put JSC ahead 7-4, but it was not enough as the Hawks scored 11 more runs en route to the victory. Robtoy went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored, and Allegrini had two RBI to go along with two singles on the day.

It’s been a rough season. Friday, April 25, saw the Beavers of the University of Maine-Farmington come to Johnson for an afternoon doubleheader. The Beavers took both from JSC, 19-3 and 13-4.

This was also the last home games for seniors Christina Gilbert and Erin Glock.

The JSC offense was led by freshman Emily Sullivan, who had a two-run single. Gervais pitched four innings for the loss.

In game two Allegrini had two RBI for the Badgers.

JSC was home to face Green Mountain College on Wednesday, April 23. The Eagles swept the doubleheader by the scores of 13-2 and 21-13.

Sullivan, junior Allie Cunningham, and freshmen Lori Badolato all reached on singles for the Badgers in game one. Gervais pitched three and a third innings and struck out two in the loss.

Game two saw JSC drive in a season-high 13 runs but it was not enough offense to hold off the Eagles. Badolato went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored to lead the JSC offense. Gervais, Glock, and junior Heidi Bellemore each scored two runs for the Badgers.

Gervais pitched seven innings, striking out three en route to the loss.

On Sunday, April 20, JSC completed the weekend home-stand by hosting Wheelock College. JSC dropped the first game 12-2 and lost a heartbreaker 5-4 in the second game.

In game one Cunningham smashed a two-run homer that drove in the Badgers only two runs. Gervais was tagged with the loss pitching four innings and striking out two.

With the tying run on third in the bottom of the seventh the Badgers could not bring the runner home and fell in dramatic fashion. Cunningham belted another homerun for the Badgers, and Gilbert scored two runs on the day for JSC. Gervais pitched the distance, striking out three to get the loss.

The Badgers were back home on Saturday, April 19, where they played host to the visiting Lynx of Lesley University.

Lesley cruised to two victories 19-0 and 17-3 to sweep the doubleheader from JSC. In game one Sullivan went 2-for-3 and Gervais pitched four innings while striking out three to pick up the loss.

Game two was highlighted by a triple from freshmen Stephanie Girard that drove in two runs for the Badgers.

On Friday, April 18, JSC traveled to Castleton to square off against the Spartans of Castleton State.

JSC suffered a 10-0 loss in game one. The Badgers picked up hits from Robtoy, freshmen Kayla Golfin, and freshmen Kathleen Garrity.

Glock had two hits on the day while Golfin and freshmen Hillary Seel added a hit each. Seel added an RBI for the Badger’s lone run.

JSC was back at home the next day to take on Lyndon State. JSC suffered a tough game one loss by the score of 6-4.

Cunningham hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead in half, but the Badgers could not hold off LSC.

JSC was defeated in game two by the score of 10-2. Cunningham hit her second homer of the day. Badolato went 2-for-3 with an RBI in game two for JSC.

On Monday, April 14, JSC was home to take on Thomas College. The Badgers dropped a pair to Thomas by the score of 11-0 and 9-0.

Gilbert, Allegrini, Girard picked up the three hits for JSC. Gervais pitched two innings and Cunningham pitched three in the loss.

The lone hit for JSC in game two was picked up by Allegrini. Gervais pitched five innings and struck out four while taking the loss.

The Badgers were back in Rutland on Thursday, Apr. 10 to once again take on the College of St. Joseph. JSC fell short 8-0 and 11-2.

Down in Rutland, Vt. on Tuesday, April 8, JSC was swept by the College of St. Joseph by the scores of 8-0 and 8-4.

In game two, Girard singled, walked, and scored two runs while Gilbert singles, walked, and scored a run. Rounding out the JSC offense was Gervais who doubled and scored a run.

On Saturday, April 5, JSC traveled up to Bangor, Maine, to battle with Husson College. JSC dropped the first game 9-0 and the second game 18-0.

In game one, Glock went 2-for-2 and Cunningham added a single of her own.

The second game saw the Husson pitching staff toss a no-hitter against JSC. Gervais and Cunningham each pitched two innings.

JSC had its first conference double-header of the season on Sunday, March 30, in Longmeadow, Mass., where they were up against Bay Path College.

The Badgers suffered two more losses with a 14-0 defeat in the first game and an 11-3 loss in the second game. The JSC offense was led by Gervais with two singles on the day. Cunningham pitched four innings and struck out six.

Gervais led JSC with another solid day at the dish. The sophomore went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. The freshmen duo Sullivan and Girard each went 1-for-2 with a run scored on the day. Gervais tossed five innings while striking out one in the loss.

JSC opened up the season on Saturday, March 29, against Mitchell College in New London, Conn. The Badgers took losses in both games of the double-header by the score of 8-0 and 11-2.

In the first game JSC collected one hit each from Glock, Gilbert, Allegrini. Cunningham tossed five and a third innings while striking out eight in the loss.

The JSC offense in the second game was led by Gilbert who had two hits, one of them being a double, and an RBI. Robtoy went 2-for-2 on the day with a double; Gervais went 1-for-3 and scored the Badgers two runs. Gervais pitched four innings striking out six in the loss.
