Swimsuit time is almost here. Instead of crash dieting on cottage cheese and celery for the majority of the summer, try finding a suit that accentuates your fabulous body whatever shape it’s in.
In the beauty and fashion world, women’s bodies are categorized as fruits. “Apples” have a fuller, rounder tummy. “Pears” have full hips and smaller breasts. “Strawberries” are the opposite of “pears.” Strawberries are bigger on top with smaller hips. “Bananas” are long and lean.
There are ways to emphasize what you love about your body and de-emphasize what you don’t love. If you’re an “Apple,” try a one-piece with a high empire waist that will draw attention upwards and lengthen the lower half of your body, making it look shapelier. Darker colors also work to slim and cover flaws.
If you’re a “Pear,” try a bikini with a full-coverage bottom. A skirted bottom is excellent for covering heavier hips and thighs. A darker color on bottom and a lighter color on top will help to visually proportion your body. Since you’ve got a smaller bust, spaghetti or funky straps will help draw the eye upwards, thus taking the attention away from your hips and thighs.
If you’re a “Strawberry,” try a full-coverage underwire or halter style top to support your bust. A solid, darker print will work best if you’re looking to minimize your bust. Ruffled or printed bottoms will help to draw attention away from your chest.
If you’re a “Banana,” try an exciting print on the top half of your body if you’d like to make your bust look bigger. If you’ve got long legs, a high-cut bikini bottom will elongate them even more!
Enjoy summer. Remember that you don’t have to be a Vicki’s model to feel like a babe under the sun; all you need is a good swimsuit and a bucket of confidence. Have a fun and sun-safe summer.
