The Lady Badgers are currently in second place of the North Atlantic Conference West Division with a 5-4 record in conference, and a 9-10 overall record.
The ladies are fresh off a conference win at home against Wheelock College on Saturday, Feb. 2, by the score of 54-41. Sophomore center Claudia Martineau led JSC with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Junior Jenna Lewis had a strong individual performance with nine points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
The night of Tuesday, Jan. 29, saw conference rival Castleton State coming to JSC to square off against the ladies in a much-anticipated match-up. The Ladies fell short that night by the score of 49-41. Leading the way for the Badgers was Martineau, who had 16 points and hauled down 11 rebounds en route to a double-double. Lewis added 13 points and grabbed four rebounds.
On Saturday, Jan. 26, in Cambridge, Mass., the ladies fell short to conference foe Lesley University, 70-57. The ladies had three players reach double digits. Martineau, Lewis, and junior Casey Rusin had 17, 11, and 12 points respectively. Sophomore Sara Dolan added seven points and six rebounds.
JSC picked up a big 32-point win in Boston, Mass., against Wheelock College on Friday, Jan. 25. Martineau had a strong game with 24 points and ripped down eight boards. Rusin added 12 points to go along with her four steals, and Lewis gave the Badgers 12 points, five assists, and six steals.
In a non-conference match-up, JSC traveled to Lyndon State on Wednesday, Jan. 23. The ladies came back from a double-digit deficit to fall short to the Hornets, 64-62. JSC saw four players finish the game in double figures. Lewis led the way with 14 points, Dolan added 11 points and seven rebounds, and Martineau and junior Staci Cutting scored 12 a piece.
In a thrilling game at JSC, the ladies prevailed with a one-point lead in overtime against Thomas College on Saturday, Jan. 19, 78-77. In the final seconds, Cutting hit a three-pointer from the top of the key to tie the game at 67 and send the game into overtime. The ladies outscored Thomas 11-10 in the final five minutes to pick up the win. Martineau poured in 24 points to go along with nine rebounds, Lewis added 21 points and handed out eight assists, and Cutting and Rusin had 14 and 10 points respectively.
On Friday, Jan. 18, U-Maine Farmington traveled down to JSC and handed the girls a 16-point loss. Lewis led JSC with 14 points, Martineau added 12 points, and Cutting had 11 points and brought down seven rebounds.
The ladies traveled to Longmeadow, Mass., to face Bay Path College on Tuesday, Jan. 15, where they picked up a comfortable 77-35 victory. Lewis paced the Badgers with a fine individual performance of 14 points, six assists, six steals, and five rebounds. Freshmen Emily Hassard had a career high 12 points and right rebounds.
In Leicester, Mass., on Saturday, Jan. 12, JSC was up against a tough Becker College team, and the ladies saw themselves coming up on the wrong end of 69-59 score. Martineau finished the game with 18 points and five rebounds, and Lewis added 11 points, six rebounds, and dished out four assists.
The ladies were down in Chicopee, Mass., on Friday night, Jan. 12, where they were up against the Blazers of Elms College. Leading JSC to a 63-46 win was Lewis, who finished with a game-high 29 points going along with seven rebounds and four steals. Martineau had another strong double-double, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Another non-conference contest saw JSC in Henniker, N.H., on Tuesday, Jan. 8, to face New England College. JSC saw another heartbreaker slip away, 57-55. JSC was sparked by Lewis, who had 20 points and five rebounds, and Cutting who added 13 points and three rebounds.
In their first game of 2008, JSC was home to host Green Mountain College in a non-conference battle on Sunday, Jan. 6. It was a close game throughout, but the Badgers snuck by with a 50-49 victory over the Eagles. Martineau paced JSC with 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Lewis had a strong game with eight points, eight assists, and eight rebounds. Hassard and Rusin tossed in eight and six points respectively.
