The resignation of former JSC Badger Jon Brooks has prompted a search for a replacement for the college’s mascot.
The SGA has posted ads featuring the question “Do you want a chance to show your B.S.”? around the campus, soliciting students as part of an effort to get the Badger back on his paws.
“We are looking for someone with a lot of school spirit and energy, who thinks it would be fun to be the Badger,” said Ashley Favreau, an SGA senator heading up the search for Brooks’ replacement. “We are looking for someone to help us spread Badger spirit.”

The job requires both spirit and stamina. “They do sporting events, anything that goes on in the Base Lodge,” Favreau said. “We send the Badger into the dorms sometimes just to be out and about just to get people energized about what is going on. He is just out there to show that the student government is here and also to support the staff.”
As of press time, at least six JSC students had applied for the position, and Favreau expects a choice to be made by the end of the semester.
