The semester is coming to a close. It feels as though this semester has flown by very quickly. A lot of exciting things have taken place on campus during the past few months.
Aside from our regular bingo and poker nights, we’ve had some fun weekend specials as well. One of these was Stacey Jones, a paranormal investigator. In late October, she came to our school to give a talk and PowerPoint presentation about her work.

In Hailee Laidman’s article “New Republican Club Formed on Campus,” (BM: 11/8/07) Chelsea Hicken, co-founder of the JSC College Republicans, commented that “there are no other political groups on campus.”

I was initially shocked because of the brash accusations of weak actors and an inadequate director followed by awe-inducing allegations that we destroyed a piece of theatre by not following the script word-for-word. I feel like someone needs to set the record straight. Although my performance as Constantine was praised as “full and larger than life,” I can’t sit back and let my peers be unjustly criticized.

A few weeks back, I attended a forum at the Morristown Elementary School on the issue of childhood poverty in Vermont − its myriad causes and possible cures. The forum was put on by the Vermont Childhood Poverty Council, directed by members of the Vermont Legislature.
As one who grew up in poverty - at the age of twelve I watched my family careen from the comforts of middle class into the dire straights of abject poverty - I know all too well the immense pain and humiliation a family can suffer when inflicted with this, the worst of all social diseases.
We are writing to address an issue we seem to be having with respect. For some reason, this year we are having a large problem with a lack of respect for one another. We are seeing lots of vandalism, vehicular break-ins, people defacing posters and property, and just a general lack of respect towards one another. We think this is a big problem, so we are asking for you, the students, to tell us what you think.
