On my boyfriend’s 20th birthday, I thought he deserved something tastier than what we find at Stearns on any given evening. Although he isn’t a picky eater, I certainly am. I tend to spend at least a week looking at reviews, menus and hearing from others if I’m planning on dining out. On Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. in the Craftsbury Public Library, Peter Schumann of Bread and Puppet Theatre gave an intimate presentation about his most recent trip to Ramallah, Palestine, this past September.
Like last time, when he visited Beyt Sahur near Bethlehem, he went to organize and perform a theatrical piece with a group of Palestinians. With the holiday season right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking of gifts to give to your family and friends.
Of course, you’ll want to give them something that they would like and can actually use. Your trendsetter friends are probably expecting something other than a gift card to the grocery store. Don’t your eyes just roll to the ceiling, and a big, involuntarily sigh escapes, and your hands float up to your hips, and you gaze at your shoes, then at his shoes, then around the room for a blunt instrument, and a little voice in yer heads says, Hmm, yeah, I could make this look like an accident, all the while you’re being schpieled?
Man, I really hated that “when I was your age” opener... way back when I was your age, heh heh. When I hear it these days, which at my age is getting rarer and rarer, it’s from someone ancient, and I usually find it kind of interesting, in a cute, weird sort of way.
Read MoreBasement Medicine has records that go back to 1974, with volume numbers that suggest we originally began publication the year before that. In the years between 1973 and 2007, there are many vast gaps in our archives – we are missing most of the 1980s – and it is unclear if we even published during those periods. The papers we do have are slowly turning yellow in their filing cabinet.
Thus, we aim to share with you our legacy – and JSC history.
