The JSC Ski and Snowboard Club has recently expanded the on campus terrain park with the addition of donated table tops and rails. The club started its search for new equipment this year, and was referred to Bolton Valley by the Burton Factory in Burlington.
Bolton Valley donated two rails to the club, and Jay Peak donated two table tops. One top is just flat, and the other is flat to down.
When asked about future plans for the club, Director of First Year Experience Margo Warden said, “Short term, we would like to host an intercollegiate rail jam with about 12 or so. Long term, there is the possibility of lighting, because electricity is already wired around the park, and we would like to see the return of a rope tow and a warming hut.”
A group of students even went to C.R.E.W. Arena in Morrisville to get truck loads of snow to be able to ride the new features. A resident of Senator’s Hall said “with new boxes and rails I’ll have a reason to go over there now.” Jason Pratt said, “making the park appealing is a good idea and a positive influence.” When Andrew Retaleato (a non-rider) was asked about the park he said, “it’s a great opportunity for people to do something, which is hard when you’re on campus.”
