Swim Lessons

The JSC aquatics
program offers quality swim lessons to the children in our community, helping them learn swimming and water safety skills while having a great time. All classes are held in the SHAPE Facility on the Johnson State College campus.

Class Descriptions
Little Dippers
Ages 3 and up
A first chance to get your feet wet! This is a fun way to be introduced to the water.
Level 1 (Beginner)
Age 5 and up
Students will learn basic swimming and safety skills. The goal of this class is for the child to become comfortable and independent in the water.
Level 2
Age 5 and up
This level focuses on primary swimming skills as children become independent in the water. Rhythmic breathing, along with front and back crawl, are taught.
Level 3
Ages 7 and up
Students should know the front and back crawl. Breaststroke and diving are introduced. Children should feel comfortable in the deep water.
Advanced Swimmers
Ages 7 and up
For swimmers who have covered the basic skills and are read to learn various strokes and redefine their swimming. This session will mix Level 4 - Level 6 skills.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
The SHAPE staff reserves the right to cancel any programs where there is insufficient enrollment, inclement weather or unsafe pool conditions. In the event of a canceled program, participants will be refunded or receive credit. If classes are canceled due to inclement weather or unsafe pool conditions, refunds will not be issued and make-up classes will be scheduled.
