Whitmore to Head JSC Women's Tennis

JOHNSON, Vt. (June 10, 2009)

Johnson State College has named Michele Whitmore Head Coach of the women’s tennis program.  Whitmore will take over for Joanna Graves who served as Head Coach for one season.

Whitmore, who also serves as the institution’s Assistant Dean of Students, will take over a program that went 2-8 in 2008 and will compete in the North Atlantic Conference in 2009.

“As someone who loves the sport, I feel that I can bring good energy, enthusiasm and motivation to the team,” said Whitmore.  “Tennis at JSC throughout the years ebbed and flowed. It is obvious that we have the potential here to be a competitive team if the commitment is there.  I am excited to work with the handful of returning players where together we can welcome and mentor our new players both on and off the court and establish ourselves as a respectfully competitive team”

Whitmore and the Johnson State tennis team will open their 2009 schedule at home on Saturday, September 5th at 1:00 pm when the Badgers host Castleton State College.
