J-State Toppled Twice at Castleton

Castleton, VT - The Castleton State College women’s volleyball team amassed 24 service aces, including nine by Hillary Greenfield (Milford, NH) in a 3-0 win over Johnson State College Thursday evening at Glenbrook Gymnasium. The Spartans cruised to set wins of 25-10, 25-13 and 25-10 to improve to 11-7 overall. Johnson State, competing in its first season of volleyball, falls to 0-15.
The Badgers struggled to return serve all match as nine different Castleton players earned at least one ace. Jamie Lemieux (Argyle, NY) led the Spartan attack with nine kills on 20 attempts. Lemieux also added four aces and a solo block for the match. Ashley Kepaa (North Attleboro, MA) added eight kills and three aces, while setter Jennifer Vibert (Farmington, CT) passed out 16 assists.
Kylie Van Etten (Montrose, PA) paced the Badgers with one kill and three assists. Jessica Pafumi (Monson, Mass.), Caitlyn Mackey (St. Albans, Vt.), and Alex Benlock (West Haven, Conn.) each recorded a kill and a service ace.
Green Mountain 3, Johnson State 0
Castleton, VT - Green Mountain College cruised to a three-set victory over Johnson State College at Glenbrook Gymnasium Wednesday evening. The Eagles turned in wins of 25-11, 25-16 and 25-4 to improve to 10-10 overall. The loss drops Johnson State, a first-year program to 0-16. The Badgers will wrap up their season this Saturday when they play host to Lyndon State and Southern Vermont.
Olesea Cojohari (Balti, Moldova) turned an impressive 13 service aces to lead the Eagles. Cojohari also added 12 assists and four kills. Emma Brinley Buckley (Lakeville, CT) led the attack with 12 kills and four aces. Melanie Rodriguez (Hoboken, NJ) added seven kills.
Beth Lilligreen (North Kingstown, RI) led the Badgers with two kills. Van Etten had three assists, a kill, and a service ace while Mackey had a pair of service aces and a kill.
