Badgers Clawed By 'Cats
Longmeadow, Mass. (March 30, 2008) -
Johnson State dropped a pair of games at North Atlantic Conference foe Bay Path College on Sunday. The losses drop JSC to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the NAC.
GAME 1:
The Bay Path College Wildcats used a seven-run second inning to fuel a 14-0 thumping of the Badgers in the first game of the day's doubleheader.
Julie Gervais (So., Enosburg Falls, Vt./Enosburg) smacked a pair of singles on the day to lead the JSC offensive attack.
Allie Cunningham (Jr., Manchester, N.H./Central) pitched four innings allowing seven hits and eight earned runs while walking nine and striking out six to get the loss for the Badgers.
GAME 2:
Johnson State scored three third inning runs to tie the game but the home Wildcats scored four times in the fourth inning to pull away for a 11-3 win in the second game of the day's twin bill.
Gervais stayed hot at the plate for JSC going 2-for-3 including a double while scoring a run and driving in another. Emily Sullivan (Fr., Hollis Center, Maine/Bonny Eagle) and Stephanie Girard (Fr., Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan) each went 1-for-2 with a run scored to supplement the JSC offense.
Gervais also pitched five innings for Johnson State allowing eight hits, seven earned runs, and nine walks while striking out one to get the loss.
