Badgers Play to 1-1 Tie with MMA
Castine, Maine - The Badgers took a 1-0 lead with less than a minute left in the first half when Ally Bataille (Waterbury, Vt./Harwood) connected on a pass from Jacqueline Poutre (Underhill, Vt./Mount Mansfield) to give Johnson State to lead. But Maine Maritime got a second half goal from Katie Hutchinson (Dixfield, ME) to even the match which ended in a 1-1 tie with Johnson State College Saturday afternoon at Ritchie Field. Johnson State improved to 6-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the NAC. With the tie MMA improves to 2-2-1 in NAC play and 7-6-1 overall.
The Lady Mariners evened the score at 1-1 in the 60th minute when Hutchinson gathered a loose ball 25-yards out and lofted it over the Badger keeper for the score. The goal was Hutchinson’s fourth of the season.
Both teams remained scoreless throughout two overtimes and the match ended at 1-1.
Morgan Solomon (Cavendish, Vt./Green Mountain) made 6 saves on 15 MMA shots in net for the Badgers. Lacey Jackson (York, PA) recorded the tie for MMA making 2 saves on 11 shots.
