Johnson Shutout By Spartans
Castleton, VT - Courtney Chadburn (North Clarendon, VT) scored two
goals and passed out an assist, and Brandy White (Springfield, VT) added
one goal and one assist to lead Castleton State College to a 5-0 win
over Johnson State College Friday in North Atlantic Conference (NAC)
action at Spartan Stadium Friday evening.
Chadburn struck for her 20th goal of the season in the 16th minute of
play, converting White’s assist. White passed the ball through the
defense on the right flank and Chadburn slipped it past Johnson State
goalie Morgan Solomon (Cavendish, VT).
White made it 2-0 on an excellent individual effort in the 49th minute.
The junior forward planted, faked a pass to the middle and spun off a
defender before blasting home her third goal of the season into the
upper-ninety. Chadburn then set up Maria Arnot (Milford, NY) in the 56th
minute, followed by an Ashley Ledoux (Swanton, VT) tally set up by Megan
Blongy (Rutland, VT). Chadburn rounded out the scoring in the 79th
minute.
Solomon was excellent in goal, turning away 22 Spartan
offerings in the contest. Castleton controlled play throughout, firing off 52 shots to Johnson
State’s three.
Ericka Davis (Cambridge, VT) stopped the lone shot on goal to earn the shutout.
Johnson finishes the regular season at 6-7-1 and 1-5-1 in the NAC. Castleton finishes the regular season with a 10-5-2 overall record and
a perfect 7-0-0 mark in conference play.
