Hawks Stifle JSC
Johnson, Vt. (February 15, 2008)
The Becker College defense keyed a 48-36 North Atlantic Conference win on Friday night in Carter Gymnasium as they held Johnson State to 23% shooting for the game and 11% shooting from the 3-point line to take control of second place in the NAC’s West Division.
Becker (13-9, 7-5 NAC) allowed only seven field goals in each half to get the season sweep of the Badgers. JSC could not find the mark from the 3-point line all night as they connected on 2-of-19 attempts from behind the arc.
Johnson State (9-13, 5-7 NAC) was led by Claudia Martineau (Washington, Vt./Spaulding) and her 12 points and added seven rebounds. Sara Dolan (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) chipped in with eight points in with five rebounds while Jenna Lewis (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury) scored six points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Kristin Karat (Enfield, Conn.) scored a game-high 19 points to pace the Hawks. The frontcourt duo of Beth Pion (Enfield, Conn.) and Brittany Evans (Danielson, Conn.) each tossed in 10 points in supplement the BC offense.
Johnson State will bid farewell to senior Jenna Lewis tomorrow on Senior Day when they tip off versus Elms College at 2:00 pm. Becker travels south to play at Castleton State, also tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
