JSC, VTC Split Doubleheader

JOHNSON, Vt. (April 16, 2009) -

 

GAME 1:

Vermont Tech     312 200 0 - 8  7  3

Johnson State     000 210 2 - 5 11 3

 

Visiting Vermont Tech jumped out to an 8-0 lead through four ½ innings before Johnson State attempted a late rally scoring five runs in the final four innings but fell short as the Green Knights earned their first victory of the season 8-5 over the Badgers.

 

Laura Conrad (Thetford, Vt.) and Amanda Angell (Randolph, Vt.) combined to scatter 11 hits over seven innings while striking out four and not walking a batter.  Abby Fusco (Middlesex, Vt.) and Jessica Arkley (Hampsted, N.H.) each scored twice with Fusco earning two hits including a double.

 

Julie Gervais (Enosburg Falls, Vt.) took the loss for JSC allowing seven hits and six earned runs while striking out four and also drilled a pair of singles.  Morgan Rogerson (Hardwick, Vt.) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored including double.

 

 

GAME 2:

Johnson State     912 0X - 12 15 1

 

The Badgers erupted for nine runs in the first inning and cruised to a 12-0 win in five innings over VTC.  Allie Cunningham (Manchester, N.H.) earned the win for Johnson State allowing only two hits while Rogerson continued her hot-hitting going 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.  Gervais belted a three-run home run in the nine-run opening frame on her way to a 3-for-4 day with three RBI and two runs scored and Lauren Wallace (Hyde Park, Vt.) went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.

 

Vermont Tech received a double from Arkley with Angell taking the loss allowing seven earned runs in the opening inning.

 

Johnson State will travel to Lyndon State College on Friday at 3:00 pm for their next doubleheader.
